DON'T COMPLAIN OR REVISIT YOUR PAST!

1. Don't Complain Or Revisit Your Past!

a) Numbers 11:4-6 NKJV
[4] Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: "Who will give us meat to eat? [5] We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; [6] but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!"

b) Remember God’s provision of manna for the Israelites in the wilderness? This miraculous food appeared every morning (except on the Sabbath) in enough supply to feed the entire nation. If the Lord had not graciously produced the manna, countless people would have starved and died!

c) Strangely enough, we don’t read of a grateful sentiment peppering the Israelite’s speech. We read of their longing again for Egypt, for slavery! They bemoaned that the “fish they ate in Egypt cost nothing” - they were revising their past history. That fish had cost them everything, they were slaves in Egypt. Here God had provided everything they needed, and yet they still complained.

d) The moral lesson for this is be appreciative of what you have or rather what God has already given you. Don't look back at your past history or glory. Don't complain! They are gone! Gone! But, rather look towards what you can do in the future!

e) As an individual, pursue your own dream. Challenge yourself to do even better. Don't copy from others. Don't chase another person's dream. Otherwise you will not be fulfilling your own that God has for you.

f) Gratefulness should abound when you witness God’s provision in your life. Next time when you are tempted to complain about something, look at it in the light of God’s provision.
